Late last week, and without advanced notice, LeadingAge California was notified that the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) was reaching out to skilled nursing providers that they will be releasing the address of record for a number of staff classifications, including: certified nurse assistants, certified hemodialysis technicians and licensed nursing home administrators on May 15.
In our communication with the department, CDPH stated that they sent a letter to all C.N.A.s offering them the opportunity to provide an alternate address prior to releasing this information.
As we understand it, the decision to take this action was a result of the department having lost a writ filed by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). We are very disappointed that the department did not notify skilled nursing providers that the writ existed, that CDPH lost the hearing, or that the department chose not to appeal. Since LeadingAge California was not notified of the above circumstances, we are still gathering additional information as this issue is still developing.
We will continue to update you as we receive more information.
