LeadingAge Staff will go over important information for the capitol visits and answer questions from participants. While seniors will be advocating for funding for affordable housing in California, they will be encouraged to talk about their own experiences as residents of affordable housing, and how important a safe, comfortable home is.
LeadingAge California will schedule and provide information about the legislative visits and any legislative priorities that they will be asked to discuss. LeadingAge CA will provide materials for advocates to use in discussions, and to give to legislators during their meetings.
Staff and Residents will be put into small groups and each group will be scheduled for two meetings in the Capitol. The meetings will be scheduled on the half hour, with the first meetings occurring at 1:30 p.m. and the last meetings occurring at 3:30 p.m. Participants can expect each meeting to last 15 to 30 minutes. Out of respect for the Legislators and their staff that make time to meet with us, we ask that participants not plan to leave the Capitol before 4 p.m., so that they do not miss a scheduled meeting.
