The Community Care Licensing Division of the Department of Social Services has unveiled its new inspection tool to replace the current Key Indicator Tool. The tool will be piloted through 2018 and will initially focus on the Senior Care program. The tool will be then rolled out to other Community Care Licensed facilities next year. The Division’s goals are to focus on increasing prevention through technical support and training, ensuring clear and consisted compliance statewide and improving enforcement by providing LPAs an array of inspection tools. The tool includes 11 “domains” and include: operational requirements, physical plant/environmental safety, staffing, personnel records/staff training, resident rights/information, resident records/incident reports, food service, planned activities, incidental medical and dental, residents with special needs and disaster preparedness. The draft RCFE tools include a pre-licensing and post-licensing tool, a comprehensive tool, and specialty tools.
The project begins this month with the release of the pilot information. LPAs will be training on the pilot tool in June. Visits will be conducted in July using the draft tool and will conclude in September. Focus groups will be conducted with LPAs in October and a final report to stakeholders will be published in December. For more information, visit CCLD’s Inspection Process Project Page.
