LeadingAge California Code of Professional Responsibility for Event Participants
To ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, all individuals involved in a LeadingAge California event—including attendees, guests, speakers, organizers, volunteers, partners, exhibitors, and staff—are required to adhere to the following Code of Professional Responsibility. LeadingAge California is committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, or any other protected characteristic. Harassment, discrimination, and abusive behavior in any form will not be tolerated.
All participants are expected to treat others with respect and professionalism. Communication should be thoughtful and inclusive, recognizing the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives among attendees. Language, behavior, and content shared during the event must be appropriate for a professional setting. Sexual language, imagery, and jokes are not appropriate in any event-related context. Personal boundaries and physical space must be respected at all times, and participants should refrain from disruptive behavior or any conduct that could cause harm, discomfort, or exclusion to others.
Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to, offensive comments or actions related to personal identity or attributes, unwanted sexual attention, deliberate intimidation, stalking, threats, or any form of verbal or physical harassment. Any advocacy for, or encouragement of, such behavior will also be considered a violation of this code. LeadingAge California reserves the right to take any action we deem necessary to enforce this Code. This includes immediate removal from the event without refund, suspension from future participation, or other consequences as determined solely by the event organizers. We may act on credible reports or suspicions of misconduct at our discretion and are not required to publicly disclose outcomes of any investigations. Thank you for helping us create a safe, respectful, and welcoming experience for all.
