Unions Dealt Blow by SCOTUS

The long-awaited Janus v. AFSCME decision was finally handed down on June 27th and SCOTUS ruled against the union. While the decision does not directly impact private sector unions, there could be dramatic shifts in tactics considering that 1.3 million government employees pay nearly $1 billion each year to government unions.


Governor Brown Signs His Final Budget

Governor Jerry Brown added his signature to his final budget late last week, expressing satisfaction for his accomplishment of creating a $9 billion rainy-day fund in anticipation of the state’s next recession. Additionally, the $139 billion spending plan prioritizes education, infrastructure, climate change and legal services for immigrants.


CCLD Riverside Office Move
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) announced that its Riverside Adult and Senior Care Regional Office has a new location at 1650 Spruce Street., Suite 200, Riverside, CA 92507. MORE

New Online Application Testing Underway
PIN 18-05-CCLD announces the opportunity to take part in testing the Adult and Senior Online Application System. The on-line applications system will allow applicants to submit applications electronically. MORE

Reminder: New Inspection Process Under Development and Testing
As reported earlier, PN 2018-03-CCLD was issued last month and outlines the new inspection approach being adopted by Community Care Licensing. This approach will eventually extend to all licensee types, however testing will begin with the state’s Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly. MORE

Reminder for Criminal Record Clearances
DSS has posted PIN 2018-02-CCLD to remind licensees of the requirement for the Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508). DSS reminds all licensees that “all individuals associated to a community care facility must have a criminal record clearance or a criminal record exemption prior to licensure, providing services, working or residing in the facility."
