Closing Speaker: Willie Brown
Wednesday, March 27, 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Willie Brown has electrified audiences all of his life. He would not only serve for three decades in the California Legislature, but would have the longest tenure as Speaker of the Assembly in California history. Willie Brown was Mayor of San Francisco for eight years and is a popular columnist with the San Francisco Chronicle. He first ran for public office the year after LeadingAge was founded.
The issues that have inspired us have also been an integral part of his own policy agenda and long before he was a senior citizen himself, he was an advocate for affordable health care, safe and healthy living facilities and consumer protections for men and women living on limited incomes. A friend of presidents and governors, he is admired most because he has never stopped speaking, defending and caring for those who need a helping hand from someone who best understands the levers of government and business.
It is impossible to be around Willie Brown and not have a good time.
