Learn how to leverage America’s primary housing development tool, the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) to develop housing for older adults. Experts from LeadingAge and the National Housing Trust will describe how the Housing Credit can be used to serve older adults, including by pairing the tax incentives with programs like Section 202 and with supportive services leveraged by older adults, followed by a live Q&A session.
Objectives:
- Describe the fundamental structure of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program and its role in financing affordable housing for older adults.
- Identify strategies for combining LIHTC with other housing programs.
- Evaluate approaches to integrating supportive services within LIHTC-funded developments to help older adults age in place and maintain independence.

Juliana is a prominent advocacy and policy expert at LeadingAge, a national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing innovative housing and healthcare solutions for older adults. At LeadingAge, Juliana leads the organization’s work to advance housing affordability for older adults with extremely low incomes as they age in community; Juliana plays a critical role in integrating health services and climate-informed preservation strategies within housing policies, focusing on the unique needs of older adults while promoting inclusive housing practices.
Moha Thakur, Senior Manager of State & Local Policy, National Housing Trust
Moha joined National Housing Trust in 2018 and currently serves as Senior Manager of State & Local Policy. In this role, Moha oversees NHT’s state & local policy portfolio across all 50 states and the District of Columbia - analyzing state, local, and regional affordable housing laws, programs, and identifying best practices.
