California Department of Public Health Releases Small-House SNF Standards

The California Department of Public Heath has released standards for operating a "small house" skilled nursing facility under California's pilot program. 

In 2012, the California Legislature passed, and Governor Brown signed, legislation that enabled a pilot program for small house skilled nursing operations within the state. The past five years, the Department of Public Health, in conjunction with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, have been working on building and licensing standards for the pilot program. 

On December 29th, the department finally released the standards via AFL 17-29 and 17-30, which can be found here:

CDPH will select a maximum of ten applications, total, in two rounds, as follows: 

  • First Round applications must be submitted not later than 5:00 p.m. on June 15, 2018.
  • Second Round applications must be submitted not later than 5:00 p.m. on December 14, 2018.
